Sustainability
Selection
PureThread is committed to selecting garments from designers whose ethics and design sensibilities most resonate, based on:
- Our definition of beauty, which combines design sensibilities with preserving culture and promoting sustainability.
- Intimate understanding of materials.
- Our relationships with the designers & trend awareness.
- Deep green research into environmental sustainability and fair trade practices.
- Commitment to working with companies which curb their use of non-renewable energy, waste, and toxins.
Accountability
We address difficult accountability questions about the products we select for our
clients, investigating:
- The nature and durability of the materials
- How the creation of the product affects the health of the planet and of the people who live on it
- Fair trade principles
- Transportation
- Corporate ethical and philanthropic commitments
- Packaging and washing requirements
- What is planned for its “next life”
Less is More
Less is More with your more ethical wardrobe – which also simplifies your life!
- Creative repurposing of existing clothing in your wardrobe
- Choosing items that are designed to last longer and to have a more universal use
- Responsible disposal of the items we edit out of your closet
Education
Because sustainable fashion is inspiring and adds depth to an otherwise surface
pleasure, we are committed to:
- Inspiring change: Tell the stories of the designers, factories, and organic farms that made the fashion possible so that our clients become part of that story, sharing the excitement about their new garments.
- Teaching: Educate our clients about the stories behind the pieces, and develop an online portal for educating consumers
- Connecting with Health: Discuss the health benefits of adopting a more sustainable life style and learn how clothes fit into a commitment to making healthier choices
